A space where children can learn courage, creativity, and teamwork while having fun.

Since its founding in 2014, Fooderlon Theater has brought together artists and educators to turn life philosophies into engaging theatrical stories. They believe every child has limitless imagination—given the stage and the opportunity, kids can learn to listen, collaborate, and even solve problems creatively. Using easily accessible recycled materials, and through theatre, interactive experiences, and art-making, children become more than spectators—they become the protagonists of the story, learning and exploring their connection to the world as they play.

Our programming partner, Huashan 1914 Creative Park, transformed from a Japanese-era brewery into a hub of Taiwan’s arts and culture. It has become a cross-disciplinary platform for creativity, performance, and design. The Huashan Children’s Arts Festival presents a wide variety of performances designed to connect everyday life with art, uncover surprises in daily living, and foster shared learning between parents and children. Many emerging Taiwanese arts groups, such as Suona Gang and Bourrée Studio, have been nurtured here, along with Fooderlon Theater, which has been specially invited for this event. Through long-term collaboration with LunarFest, Taiwan’s creativity continues to engage with audiences in Canada.

Fooderlon Theater will present two types of workshops for the School Outreach program this year. 

In “Who’s the Leader?”, children will follow a group of charming and quirky animals to explore a fun and important question: who can lead the group, and how can everyone get along and work together? To bring the story to life, participants will craft their own little horse puppets from recycled cardboard, each becoming the star of their own story. This is more than a workshop—it’s an adventure where art sparks courage, creativity, and collaboration.

In addition, there’s the international, cross-city collaborative stop-motion animation workshop “Racing into Spring”! Fooderlon Theater invites children to pick up their brushes, unleash their creativity, and imagine their own unique style for the galloping horses. All the creations will be linked together, bringing the horses to life—see if you can spot your artwork in the animation!
